Midland bakery launches new bread line

Bakery Plus in Midland announced a new brand of bread it will be using for its sales and distribution to restaurants across Michigan.

The commercial bakery specializes in handmade bread baked from scratch in small batches, and delivered fresh instead of frozen, as commercial bread sometimes is.

That's where the name for the new brand, Scratched Bread, comes from. The brand will encompass all the bakery's fresh-from-scratch offerings, including white, wheat, rye, rye swirl, sourdough, pumpernickel, sweet bread, multigrain, English muffin bread, sub sandwich bread, pitas, and pizza dough. More varieties are also on the way.

Bakery Plus started in 2002 and is led by president Dave Beckett. Over the last 13 years, the bakery has expanded its distribution to more than 60 restaurants in Michigan, with recent focus in reaching to the Lansing and Flint areas, says Beckett.
