Saginaw is home to new El Paso Grill

A Saginaw couple with roots in Southwestern cuisine have opened a new restaurant in Saginaw Township, called El Paso Grill.

The food will already be familiar to some; husband-and-wife-team Eric Saenz--whose family is, appropriately, from El Paso, Texas--and Angela Rose have run Gourmex Catering for the last 20 years. More recently, they opened a take-out counter on Gratiot and Center, specializing in their southwestern-inspired recipes like chicken lime tacos, menudo, and flour tortillas and fresh salsa, all made to order. It was so successful, they needed more room right away.

The Saenzs opened El Paso Grill just down the street at 4880 Gratiot in late 2012, and have had a warm welcome from the community. You'll even be able to find their homemade salsa in jars in local stores soon, and the couple is considering expanding to new locations, or taking the operation mobile, with a food truck.

For now, they're open 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday so you can get your fix of tacos, burritos, nachos, tostadas and more.
