Mid Michigan Community College opens doors on new Mt. Pleasant building

Mid Michigan Community College is welcoming the public inside its new Mt. Pleasant campus building.

The new Center for Liberal Arts and Business is located on the corner of Broadway and Summerton, and will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. August 23. It's a new building, and will hold all the liberal arts, business, visual arts and math programs, as well as transfer programs. The 101,000-square-foot center consolidates operations from the college's old Pickard Street building, which is for sale.

The change is part of a move toward expanding student services and community programming, and the resulting need for a new and updated facility. Additional space in the center also will mean more library and academic support services. The Center for Liberal Arts and Business was a nine-year, $18 million project that was supported by MMCC's first capital campaign, which raised $5 million.
