Alyssa DePlonty hired as museum curator

The Saginaw Art Museum has a new curator, Alyssa DePlonty.

A Saginaw native, DePlonty recently graduated from the University of Washingon with a master's degree in museology. She has worked at the Museum of Flight and the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle, and previously earned a bachelor's degree in museum studies at Michigan State University.

Locally, her experience includes internships at the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History and the Mid-Michigan Children's Museum.

"We are thrilled that Alyssa will be joining our staff at the museum," says Stacey Gannon, executive director at the Saginaw Art Museum. "Her knowledge of museum education and collection management, combined with her fresh mind and love for her hometown of Saginaw, make her an exciting addition."
