Each time a governor leaves office, they sit for an official portrait, to be hung in Lansing after they're gone. Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm's portrait is now looking down at the Capitol Rotunda, and the man who created it is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
Excerpt: The official portrait of former Gov. Jennifer Granholm was unveiled in the Michigan Capitol Rotunda Friday, the work of a 1976 Central Michigan University alumnus and artist. Charles Pompilius of Ferndale was present as his life-size painting of Granholm was put on permanent display.
